Russian scientists are developing cancer vaccinations and new generations of medicines, said President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday.

He announced this at the Future Technologies Forum in Moscow, Putin added, that the “Russian scientific community is achieving breakthroughs in medical sciences.”

He added that “great advances had been made in cancer detection and treatment, resulting in higher survival rates.”

"I will also add that we are close to developing so-called on-vaccines, cancer vaccines, and next-generation immune-modulatory medications,” said Putin.

He said he is confident that the medicines will be available soon, and useful for individual therapeutic methods.

The Russian president further added that “he is proud of his scientific community, as more than half of all cancer cases in Russia are identified early on when the prognosis is the best.

He also pledged that the Russian administration would continue funding and in some cases will also increase the funding to continue funding medical research and development at the necessary levels.

Putin described the medical improvements he was shown at the forum as “some kind of science fiction.”

“Even just a little while ago, we could only read about such things in the works of fantasy fiction, but today all of this is becoming reality.

All these areas are now just gaining momentum, and are expected to produce a real revolution in medicine shortly,” he said.

One of the ideas is a unique chip that can restore a person's vision if put in the brain. The technique is currently in clinical studies and is being tested by scientists under the supervision of the Russian Health Ministry.

Advances in medicine, prevention, and treatment are valuable in themselves, but they must be combined with contributions from other industries to be effectively utilised by Russian society, said Putin.

As a result, Moscow considers these major areas of industry to be national initiatives, and it intends to establish the entire industrial process as an integrated chain, from foundations and applications to production and training of highly skilled individuals.

The potential breakthrough in clinical sciences and oncology research is poised to revolutionise cancer treatment, offering hope to millions worldwide grappling with this devastating disease.

The success in developing a cancer vaccine could mark a pivotal moment in the history of medicines, providing a lifeline to patients and significantly altering the landscape of cancer care.

With cancer cases on the rise globally, the impact of such a vaccine cannot be overstated, promising to bring relief and renewed optimism to individuals and families affected by cancer.
