The Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile has issued a powerful resolution expressing unwavering solidarity with Tibetans facing relentless repression under Chinese rule.

The resolution highlighted the Tibetan people's ongoing struggle for fundamental human rights, religious freedom, and the preservation of their cultural identity amidst China’s occupation of Tibet.

The resolution began by paying heartfelt tribute to the Tibetans who have sacrificed their lives for Tibet’s freedom and culture.

It honoured their resilience and bravery in the face of systemic oppression, including extrajudicial killings, arbitrary arrests, and forced disappearances. Condolences were also extended to the families of those martyred in the Tibetan cause.

China’s “sinicization” policies came under sharp criticism in the resolution. These policies, particularly the expansion of state-controlled boarding schools, were described as tools of forced assimilation.

The Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile condemned these institutions for tearing children away from their families, communities, and cultural roots, furthering what it termed cultural genocide.

The closure of the Ragya Gangjong Norbu Lobling School in Golog was specifically denounced. This institution, long considered a cornerstone of Tibetan education and culture, was a victim of Beijing’s broader agenda to suppress Tibetan identity.

The resolution demanded the immediate cessation of such policies and insisted on the freedom for Tibetans to practise their religion, language, and culture without interference.

A key demand in the resolution was the release of the 11th Panchen Lama, Gedhun Choekyi Nyima, who has been held by Chinese authorities since 1995. It also called for the release of all Tibetan political prisoners and accountability for their treatment under Chinese custody.

The Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile strongly reaffirmed Tibet’s historical sovereignty, rejecting China’s claims over the region. It emphasised that Tibet has never been a part of China, directly challenging Beijing’s narrative.

The resolution reiterated the Middle Way Policy, which calls for meaningful dialogue to resolve the Sino-Tibetan conflict. However, it warned that China’s failure to engage in such discussions would make it solely responsible for future consequences.
