Trump Says No More Talks if Russia Refuses to End War.

US President Donald Trump has cut down the deadline to end the war in Ukraine to “10–12 days”, adding that he was not feeling great after having a conversation with the Russian President following back-to-back failures in the talks.

Known for his unpredictability, Trump issued a new dramatic ultimatum to Russia to end the war in Ukraine or brace for tougher sanctions as he concluded his meeting with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer in Scotland.

Trump informed reporters that he was not too interested in negotiating with Putin any more, suggesting his mounting frustration with his counterpart in Moscow.

While in a meeting with Prime Minister Keir Starmer at his Turnberry golf resort, Trump said he was “very disappointed” with Putin.

He said the new announcement was necessary to put additional pressure on Putin to halt the conflict in Ukraine.

Though it is not only highly unlikely but rather an ultimatum that could see Russia intensifying its operations in the region. “There is no reason to wait,” Trump added.

“Every time I felt it was going to end, it escalated with the killing of more civilians,” he said, blaming Russia for the deaths.

“I’m not so interested in talking to him any more,” he added.

With his latest ultimatum, Trump has moved up a 50-day deadline he had given the Russian leader two weeks ago. The move implies that Trump wants peace efforts to make progress by August 7-9. Trump has repeatedly rebuked Putin for talking about ending the war, but continuing to bombard Ukrainian civilians.

Zelenskyy welcomed Trump's move on the timeline. “Everyone needs peace - Ukraine, Europe, the United States, and responsible leaders across the globe,” Zelenskyy said in a post on Telegram. “Everyone except Russia.”

‘Russia isn't Israel or Iran’

Responding to Trump’s ultimatum, a top lieutenant of Putin warned Trump against “playing the ultimatum game with Russia”. “Russia isn't Israel or even Iran,” former president Dmitry Medvedev, who is deputy head of the country's Security Council, wrote on social media platform X. “Each new ultimatum is a threat and a step towards war. Not between Russia and Ukraine, but with his own country,” Medvedev said.
