In the early hours of Saturday, the U.S. military carried out a targeted strike against another Houthi-controlled site in Yemen, identified as a threat to commercial vessels in the Red Sea. This action followed a series of airstrikes jointly conducted by the U.S. and Britain against Houthi rebels the day before.

Residents in Sanaa, the capital of Yemen, reported hearing a single loud explosion during the latest incident. The U.S. Central Command confirmed that the Navy destroyer USS Carney executed the "follow-on action" using Tomahawk land attack missiles against a Houthi radar site.

In response to the initial airstrikes, the U.S. Navy issued a warning on Friday, advising American-flagged vessels to avoid specific areas in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden for the next 72 hours. This precautionary measure came as the Houthi rebels in Yemen pledged strong retaliation, heightening the potential for an expanded conflict in a region already grappling with Israel's conflict in Gaza.

Anticipating retaliatory efforts from the Houthis, U.S. military and White House officials acknowledged the potential for further hostilities. The U.S.-led bombardment, initiated in response to a series of drone and missile attacks on commercial ships in the strategically important Red Sea, resulted in at least five fatalities and six injuries, according to Houthi reports.

The U.S. military conducted the strikes in two waves, targeting locations in 28 different areas under Houthi control in Yemen.
