Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has been in Tokyo, discussing expanded cooperation between India and Japan in railways and technology.
Vaishnaw, who oversees railways, information and broadcasting, and information technology, met with key Japanese officials to advance bilateral ties.
On Thursday, Vaishnaw held detailed talks with Tetsuo Saito, Japan’s Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism, focusing on enhancing railway collaboration, boosting economic growth, and strengthening cultural connections.
He also met with Tadashi Maeda, Managing Director and Chairman of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation, to review the progress of the India-Japan strategic partnership and explore future opportunities.
Vaishnaw noted on X, "Met with Mr. Tadashi Maeda, MD & Chairman of Japan Bank for International Cooperation, to discuss progress under the India-Japan strategic partnership. Exchanged views on key areas of cooperation and future opportunities."
Further discussions were held with Taro Kono, Japan’s Minister for Digital Transformation, regarding advancements in the digital sector.
Vaishnaw mentioned, "Explored avenues for collaboration and innovation in the digital landscape, focusing on futuristic technological advancements."
Additionally, Vaishnaw engaged with Masafumi Mori, Special Adviser to Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, to discuss the future trajectory of the India-Japan strategic partnership.
