Billionaire Anant Ambani, the scion of the Ambani family, is set to marry Radhika Merchant, and the pre-wedding festivities have commenced in Jamnagar, Gujarat. Renowned for their distinctive style, the Ambanis have opted for a 'Vocal for Local' approach in their shopping arrangements.
Reliance Industries houses a state-of-the-art crude oil refinery in Jamnagar, a location the family frequents. The pre-wedding celebrations for Anant and Radhika are already underway in Jamnagar, promising to be one of the country's most extravagant and widely discussed marriage events.
Nita Ambani recently visited Bandhani manufacturers in Kutchh and Lalpur Village of Jamnagar, situated close to the Reliance Petroleum plant in Jamnagar.
The Reliance Foundation stated, "In homage to Indian heritage, the Ambani family has engaged skilled women artisans from Kachchh & Lalpur to weave a tapestry of dreams for Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant's upcoming union. These women invest their hearts and souls into the craft, preserving age-old techniques and giving life to stories as ancient as the land itself. Swadesh is empowering communities and preserving age-old craftsmanship."
Personally visiting the vendor's home and manufacturing facilities in a modest setting, Nita Ambani spent time with the women involved in Bandhani weaving, discussing their skills and commending them for their self-reliance and talent.
According to the Bandhani vendor, they have specially designed unique scarves (dupatta) in Bandhani for this wedding. These scarves blend two cultures - the Pathni artistry from Maharashtra and Bandhani from Gujarat. The entire artisan community has crafted scarves with a unique blend of artistry, combining these two cultures. The vendors expressed their enjoyment in working on this project.
Nita Ambani, adorned in Bandhani, was a captivating sight as she freely engaged with the artisan women, discussing various aspects. At one point, she inquired about the origins of their intricate designs, to which the women responded that they learned these skills at their in-laws' place.
