The Parivartan Mahashakti, an alliance of non-Mahayuti and non-MVA parties, announced on Monday that it will contest 121 seats in the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections.
The alliance includes the Swabhimani Paksha led by former MP Raju Shetti, Sambhaji Chhatrapati’s Maharashtra Surajya Paksha, and MLA Bacchu Kadu’s Prahar Janshakti.
Speaking at a press conference, Sambhaji Chhatrapati stated that the bloc, positioning itself as a third front in Maharashtra, will contest 121 of the 288 seats in the 20 November election.
"For the last 75 years, we've been focusing only on basic issues, without a long-term vision for Maharashtra, unlike neighbouring states Karnataka and Telangana which are progressing," he said.
He added that activist Manoj Jarange’s decision not to field candidates likely aligns with the interests of the Maratha community.
"We have yet to hold a detailed discussion with Jarange, but we may meet him in the coming days to decide on the next steps. We’re not a third front but a better alternative," said Chhatrapati, a descendant of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
Swabhimani Paksha leader Raju Shetti noted that Parivartan Mahashakti aims to field strong candidates this election, criticising the state of politics in Maharashtra.
He said both the ruling Mahayuti and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi have neglected the issues of farmers and the unemployed.
Prahar Janshakti leader Bacchu Kadu highlighted that the alliance has received positive public support and will focus its campaign on issues beyond caste and religious politics.
