Organic Certification Initiative Launched by Amit Shah.

Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah has announced that the National Cooperative Organic Limited (NOCL) and the Organic Products Council, Uttarakhand, will provide reliable organic food to consumers across India through the Bharat and Amul brands.

HM Amit Shah made these remarks during the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between NOCL and the Organic Products Council in New Delhi.

Shah highlighted two key reasons why organic farming has not yet gained widespread popularity in India. First, farmers often do not receive higher prices for organic produce because there is no guarantee of its authenticity.

Secondly, consumers are hesitant to purchase organic products due to doubts about whether the items, such as rice, wheat, and pulses, are truly organic.

To address these challenges, the government established the National Cooperative Organic Limited. This initiative, along with Amul, aims to create a nationwide network of internationally recognized laboratories.

These labs will test both the soil and the products to ensure they are genuinely organic. With this reliable certification, consumers can trust that the organic food they purchase through the Bharat and Amul brands is authentic.

During the event, Shah also called on farmers in Uttarakhand to embrace natural farming practices. He urged them to maintain the purity of their fields by making them completely organic and to encourage their fellow farmers to adopt similar practices.

Amit Shah expressed his hope that the use of chemical fertilisers would eventually be completely eliminated in Uttarakhand.
