Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah on Wednesday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth around Rs 66 crore in Gujarat’s Sanand Assembly constituency via video conferencing from New Delhi.
In his address, Shah said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the NDA candidate C P Radhakrishnan secured a resounding victory in the Vice-Presidential election, the Ministry of Home Affairs stated.
He added that Radhakrishnan’s election further strengthened India’s geographical unity through its constitutional posts. Shah noted that President Droupadi Murmu represents Eastern India, Vice-President C P Radhakrishnan represents Southern India, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who hails from Gujarat and contests from Varanasi, represents Western and Northern India.

Together, he said, the three offices reflect the country’s East, West, North and South. Shah highlighted that Sanand has been developed with a clear plan over the past few years.
He assured that by 2029, no village in the Sanand Assembly constituency would remain without basic amenities. He said a comprehensive strategy has been drawn up to address gaps in facilities in Bavla and Sanand municipalities.

According to the minister, steps are being taken to strengthen infrastructure in roads, afforestation, healthcare, sanitation, and drinking water.
Shah said that once the Dholera Special Investment Region becomes operational and surrounding industrial projects are completed, Sanand will emerge as Gujarat’s most industrially developed tehsil. He underlined that the state government had already prepared the groundwork for this transformation.
The minister pointed out that for years, 111 villages in Sanand faced shortages of irrigation and drinking water, but the first phase of tackling the problem is nearly complete.
He said water supply has now reached these villages at a cost of around Rs 750 crore. The next phase, involving the supply of water to households and agricultural fields, will resume at an estimated cost of Rs 1,000 crore.
Shah further announced that projects worth about Rs 150 crore have been planned through Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives in the Sanand constituency. The requirements of each village, he said, were identified in consultation with the Collector, MLA, and other stakeholders.
Referring to his recent discussions with industrialists, Shah said that a robust administrative framework has been established to ensure smooth implementation.
He concluded by stating that the government aims to provide all essential amenities currently absent in Sanand’s villages within the next 18 to 24 months, at an estimated cost of Rs 150 crore.
