Atishi’s Oath Ceremony as Delhi CM Scheduled for September 21 As Suggested by Delhi LG Saxena.

Atishi is set to be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Delhi on September 21, marking a significant shift in the city's political landscape. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) confirmed that she will be joined by other new ministers taking their oaths on the same day. This announcement follows the resignation of the outgoing Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal.

Atishi, aged 43, is a prominent leader of AAP and is poised to become the Chief Minister after a notable career in education reform and party leadership. In her recent press conference, Atishi expressed a mix of emotions about her new role. While she is grateful for the trust placed in her by Kejriwal, she also acknowledged the sadness surrounding his resignation.

The upcoming transition is set against the backdrop of Delhi's upcoming assembly elections scheduled for February next year. Atishi has emphasised her commitment to working diligently to ensure that Kejriwal's leadership is restored in the next electoral cycle. She asked the public to hold off on congratulating her, given the circumstances of her ascension.

Atishi’s career within AAP has been marked by significant achievements. She previously served as an advisor to Manish Sisodia during his tenure as the Education Minister, and later took on the role of Education Minister herself. Her contributions have been pivotal in overhauling the education system in Delhi’s government schools.

As a key member of AAP’s Manifesto Drafting Committee for the 2013 Assembly election, Atishi has been a dedicated party spokesperson since the party's early days. Her political journey includes a decisive victory in the 2020 Delhi Legislative Assembly election, where she defeated her BJP rival Dharambir Singh by a substantial margin.

Atishi will be the third woman to assume the role of Delhi’s Chief Minister, following Sushma Swaraj and Sheila Dikshit. Her appointment as the Chief Minister reflects AAP’s ongoing commitment to nurturing leadership within the party. She will also be the only woman Cabinet Minister in the current Delhi Government, a role she was appointed to in March 2023.

The transition of leadership comes at a time of both opportunity and challenge for AAP as it prepares for the forthcoming assembly elections. Atishi’s leadership is expected to continue the party’s focus on education and social reforms while navigating the political landscape shaped by Kejriwal’s departure.
