Badlapur Protest Chaos: 300 FIRs and 40 Arrests Recorded.

In the wake of a disturbing incident in Badlapur, Maharashtra, police have made significant moves to address the unrest that erupted over the alleged sexual assault of two minor girls. The situation, which saw massive protests, stone-pelting, and police lathi-charges, has led to over 40 arrests and 300 FIRs filed against those involved.

The protests began after the shocking news surfaced that two fourth-grade girls were allegedly assaulted by a school attendant. The outrage among residents led to chaotic scenes at Badlapur railway station, where demonstrators blocked tracks, disrupting train services and leading to police intervention. The intense clashes resulted in the suspension of internet services in the area and a directive for local shops to close.

On Tuesday, the police were forced to use lathi-charges and tear gas to disperse the angry crowds. The violence caused significant disruptions, with 12 mail express trains being diverted and 30 local trains partially cancelled. After a tense standoff, railway services resumed late that night once the area was cleared.

Authorities have heightened security measures at the railway station to prevent further incidents. Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis condemned the assault and has ordered a thorough investigation.

He announced the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the matter and instructed the Thane Police Commissioner to suspend several senior officers for their delayed response.

In response to the unrest, Internet services in Badlapur will remain suspended to prevent the spread of rumours. The situation has now stabilised, with railway services back to normal, and the police continue to monitor the area closely.

The Deputy Chief Minister assured that a charge sheet will be filed promptly, and the case will be fast-tracked in court to ensure swift justice for the victims.
