The Election Commission announced on Tuesday that by-elections for 48 assembly constituencies and two parliamentary constituencies will occur next month.
The bypolls for 47 assembly seats and the Wayanad parliamentary seat in Kerala are scheduled for 13 November.
While voting in one assembly seat in Uttarakhand and the Nanded parliamentary seat in Maharashtra will be on 20 November.
The vote counting is set for 23 November, coinciding with the state elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand.
The Wayanad seat became vacant when Congress leader Rahul Gandhi decided to retain Rae Bareli, the family’s stronghold. His sister, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, will make her electoral debut by contesting from Wayanad.
The Nanded Lok Sabha seat was vacated following the death of Congress MP Vasantrao Chavan in August.
The upcoming bypolls will occur across several states.
Uttar Pradesh will have nine assembly seats voting, including Meerapur, Kundarki, Ghaziabad, Khair, Karhal, Phulpur, Katehari, Majhawan, and Sishamau.
In Rajasthan, seven constituencies, such as Chorasi, Khinswar, Dauda, and Jhunjhunu, will hold elections.
Six assembly seats in West Bengal, including Taldangra, Stai, and Naihati, will also vote.
Five assembly seats in Assam, namely Dholai, Sidli, Bongaigaon, Behali, and Samaguri, and four in Bihar, including Ramgarh and Tarari, are scheduled for bypolls.
Karnataka will see elections in three seats: Shiaggaon, Sandur, and Channapatna. Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh, Sikkim, and Kerala will each witness voting in two assembly seats.
Raipur City South in Chhattisgarh, Gambegre in Meghalaya, and Kedarnath in Uttarakhand are also set for elections next month.
However, no new dates have been confirmed for the Milkipur Assembly constituency and West Bengal’s Lok Sabha seat, as both cases are pending in the high courts.
The Milkipur seat was previously won by Samajwadi Party leader Awadhesh Prasad, who then contested and won the Faizabad Lok Sabha seat earlier this year.
