The State Investigation Agency (SIA) has filed a chargesheet against a key member of the notorious Kashmir Fight” for allegedly issuing online threats to migrant Kashmiri Pandit employees, said J&K police.

The investigation was launched following threats issued earlier this month. The chargesheet was submitted to the 3rd Additional Session’s judge in Jammu on Monday.

In a statement on X, the J&K police said: “In a significant stride in the fight against cyber-terrorism, the State Investigation Agency (SIA), Jammu, has filed a chargesheet against key operatives behind the notorious ‘Kashmir Fight,’ a social media handle.”

The statement further added that the platform, operated by the Resistance Front (TRF), a proscribed militant outfit consisting mostly of Pakistani fighters, was used to issue chilling online threats to migrant working Kashmiri pandits to spread fear and unrest.

“In February 2024, a series of threatening posts were published on social media by the terror outfit’s handle, prompting an investigation by SIA Jammu,” the police said.

During the investigation, SIA arrested Farhaan Muzaffar Mattoo, a Srinagar resident, for allegedly gathering and sharing sensitive information about targeted employees, according to the police.

The investigation also revealed that Matoo acted as a conduit, using encrypted communication platforms to transmit critical data about the migrant employees to handlers based in Pakistan, who then used the same data to issue threats through the “Kashmir fight” platform.

Additionally, the chargesheet also names Sheikh Sajad Ahmad, Alias Sajjad Gul, a Srinagar resident who now operates from Pakistan, as the “mastermind of this plot.”

Sajjad, a Lashkar-e-Taiba commander, has been involved in multiple terror attacks in J&K; his name also surfaced during the series of 2024 ambushes carried out across different locations in J&K.
