Cong slams PM Modi's 100 days: 'Weak' and full of U-turns

Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate said the past 100 days had weighed heavily on the nation's farmers, youth, women, infrastructure, Railways, and overall peace.

The Congress party has sharply criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s performance in his third term, marking the completion of 100 days in office. Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate described Modi as a "weak" prime minister, accusing him of relying on "crutches" and setting records for policy reversals.

In a press conference held at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters, Shrinate said the past 100 days have been challenging for various sectors, including agriculture, youth, women, infrastructure, and railways. She claimed that Modi’s tenure has been characterised by instability, indecision, and a lack of vision.

"Each moment of this government has been marked by instability, indecision, and immaturity," Shrinate said. "Modi has proven to be a weak prime minister, setting new records for U-turns on issues such as lateral entry in civil services, the broadcast bill, and the Waqf bill."

Shrinate questioned Modi's plans and vision for the next five years, highlighting issues such as relations with neighbouring countries, economic challenges, and women's safety. She also criticised Modi's handling of corruption, accusing him of legitimising it by including those once deemed corrupt within his party.

The Congress spokesperson pointed out several critical issues, including a rise in train accidents, deteriorating infrastructure, and increased terror attacks. She mentioned specific incidents such as the recent train accidents, the crumbling infrastructure of newly inaugurated projects, and ongoing violence in Manipur.

Shrinate also raised concerns about the government’s response to China’s incursions in Ladakh and alleged failures in managing domestic issues like rising crimes against women and exam cancellations.

"The Modi government's 100-day agenda has proven to be mere rhetoric," Shrinate concluded. "There is no plan, no vision, and no agenda left, only a desperate clinging to power."
