Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi receives a warm welcome by Gujarat Congress leaders at the Vadodara airport on Saturday.

Congress Lok Sabha member and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi reached Vadodara on Saturday to a warm reception by party cadres and supporters. He has come to the state to attend a three-day organisational training programme in Gujarat's Anand district.

The programme is part of the Congress party’s initiative to mark 2025 as an “organisational year,” during which various camps and activities are being held across the country to strengthen internal structures and grassroots outreach.

On Rahul Gandhi’s visit to the state today, Gujarat Congress spokesperson Manish Doshi said to the media, “…The Congress Party has organised a three-day training camp. District presidents and city presidents will be trained in this camp. Congress Party National President Mallikarjun Kharge, people's warrior and Leader of Opposition Rahul ji and all veteran leaders will come here to inaugurate it… The city and district presidents who will be trained in three days will proceed to their respective places and consolidate the taluka committees there.

"Rahul ji is completely dedicated to the belief that Congress must struggle for the rights of people by being dedicated to its ideology and strengthening the organisation…" he said.

Earlier in April this year, Indian National Congress organised its two-day national convention in Ahmedabad after a gap of sixty years.

Rahul Gandhi also initiated the 'Sangathan Sirjan Abhiyan' in Modasa region of Gujarat's Aravalli district as a move to reorganise the party with the aim of giving more strength to its organisation by empowering District Congress Committees, and to "introduce a new system of accountability."

Rahul Gandhi has already informed the Congress workers in Gujarat that there is a necessity to cleanse the party of some individuals who are "hand in glove" with the Bharatiya Janata Party.

If we wish to establish a relationship (with individuals), then we must do two things, the first thing is to bifurcate these two groups (BJP supporters and loyalists), and stern action must be taken. Even if we need to eliminate ten, fifteen, even twenty or thirty individuals, then we should eliminate them," Gandhi said during a party worker meeting on March 9.
