Amid tensions and ongoing border skirmishes between India and Pakistan at the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir, after the Pahalgam terror attack, a massive crowd gathered at the Wagah border on Saturday to witness the daily flag-lowering ceremony.
The tradition has been going on for decades, marking national pride that drew heightened interest amid ongoing Pakistan-India tensions.
Reports said that the atmosphere was electric as attendees from various walks of life chanted patriotic slogans from both sides to boost the morale of the armed forces.
The event began with the national anthems of India and Pakistan and featured a spirited parade performed by the disciplined Pakistan Rangers.
Forces from both sides participated in the ceremonial drills, each side presenting an impressive show of strength and coordination in a symbolic contest of military prowess.
Echoes of “Wande Mataram” and "Pakistan Zindabad" filled the air as citizens passionately expressed their loyalty and enthusiasm for their respective nations.
The flag-lowering ceremony at Wagah, a longstanding daily tradition, once again served as a powerful symbol of unity and resilience.
Meanwhile, between the border skirmishes and Pakistan testing its medium ballistic missile, Abdalli, having a range of 450 km, during the Indus exercises. The flag ceremony gave people from both sides a sense of relief amid the heightened tensions.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the test was part of Exercise Indus, designed to ensure troop readiness and validate the missile’s advanced navigation and enhanced manoeuvrability.
Meanwhile, India called the testing of a missile by Pakistan an “unprovoked act of provocation.”
