Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday inaugurated the construction of a 24-seater Jan Sewa Camp (JSC) in the Jhuggi Jhopdi (JJ) cluster located in the Nehru Camp area of Haiderpur. The initiative is part of the government's ongoing efforts to extend essential public services to underprivileged sections of society, ensuring better access and outreach in urban settlements.
A day earlier, on Saturday, CM Gupta participated in the 300th birth anniversary celebrations of Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Holkar, a revered queen known for her governance, philanthropy, and devotion to public welfare. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister hailed Ahilyabai Holkar as a symbol of harmony, courage, and visionary leadership. She emphasised the queen’s role in redefining women’s leadership in Indian history.

In a heartfelt post shared on X, CM Gupta wrote, “Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar was not just a queen — she was a visionary who ruled with justice, policy, harmony and indomitable courage, and gave a new identity to Indian women's power through her leadership. Her entire life is an indelible example of nation-building, public welfare, and women’s empowerment. The inspiring life of Queen Mother Ahilyabai not only empowers the role of women in Indian history, but also proves that a visionary woman can lay the foundation of a prosperous and welfare nation with her wisdom, policies and courage. Her memory is both an ideal and an inspiration for us.”

Union Minister of State SPS Baghel and BJP leader Harsh Malhotra were also present at the ceremony, which paid homage to the legacy of one of India’s most iconic female rulers.

Meanwhile, in a separate development, the Delhi government is planning to establish the Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority (UMTA) to enhance the city’s public transportation network. The initiative aims to improve coordination among various public transport agencies and ensure streamlined project implementation. Through UMTA, the government seeks to facilitate better communication and cooperation between agencies, ultimately strengthening Delhi’s public transport infrastructure and service delivery.
