Government Assigns New Space to AAP After Delhi HC Order.

Following the Delhi High Court’s ruling, the Central Government has assigned a new office space to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The new headquarters will be located at Bungalow No. 1, Ravi Shankar Shukla Lane, New Delhi.

The decision came after the High Court's judgement on June 5, which directed the government to allocate the office space to AAP. Advocate Rishikesh Kumar, who represented AAP, explained that the court had set a deadline of six weeks for the allocation, which expired on July 17. The Union government requested an extension on July 16, but this request was denied by the court. The court then ordered the allocation by July 25.

In compliance with the court's instructions, the government has now offered the new office space to AAP. The party’s team is currently reviewing the new location before making further decisions.

Delhi Minister and AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj expressed frustration over the need to involve the court to secure office space. He remarked that there were attempts to force AAP out of its current office, suggesting that such matters should be handled with basic political courtesy. Bharadwaj acknowledged the court's role in pushing the Centre to comply but noted the process should not have required legal intervention.

Currently, AAP operates from its Rouse Avenue office, which was allocated in 2015 after the party won a full majority in the Delhi government. Before that, AAP had been based in rented properties in Patel Nagar and Connaught Place.

The new office space represents a significant shift for the party, and its allocation marks a conclusion to a prolonged legal and political process.
