The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has thrown down the gauntlet to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), demanding accountability from its MPs over their contributions to Delhi in the past decade.
AAP dares BJP to release a white paper detailing their achievements, as BJP candidates for seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi unveil their 100-day priorities.
Delhi cabinet minister Saurabh Bharadwaj questioned the absence of BJP MPs during critical times in Delhi's history, particularly during the sealing drives and demolition activities.
He criticized the lack of action from BJP MPs in addressing issues like shop closures, homelessness due to demolitions, and the deterioration of law and order, including instances of heinous crimes and drug-related activities.
Bharadwaj also highlighted the failure of BJP MPs to address essential issues such as traffic congestion and water shortage during critical times, including the oxygen crisis during the second wave of Covid-19.
He emphasized the need for accountability and proactive measures from elected representatives to address the pressing concerns of Delhi residents.
The AAP's stance comes amidst their alliance with the Congress for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. While AAP has finalized candidates for four seats, the Congress is yet to announce its candidates for the remaining three seats.
In response, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva expressed confidence in the party's ability to secure all seven seats with significant margins.
Addressing a press conference, Bharadwaj posed seven questions to the BJP MPs, all but one of whom have been replaced for the coming fray. He questioned their role during critical events like the sealing drives, demolitions, and instances of lawlessness.
Bharadwaj also raised concerns about the BJP's promises regarding traffic management, law and order, and their response to crises like the oxygen shortage during the Covid-19 pandemic.
As the political discourse heats up in the run-up to the elections, AAP's challenge to BJP underscores the importance of transparency and accountability in governance.
The demand for a white paper serves as a call for greater scrutiny of elected representatives and their actions, signaling a commitment to uphold the interests of the people of Delhi.
With both parties gearing up for a fierce electoral battle, the spotlight remains on the BJP to address the AAP's allegations and present a compelling case for their continued representation in Delhi's parliamentary seats.
