Amidst the scorching heat wave gripping Delhi, the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital has taken a proactive step by establishing the city's first heat stroke unit. Inaugurated by Roli Singh, Additional Secretary of the Union Health Ministry, this initiative aims to provide specialised care to patients suffering from heat-related illnesses.
Singh praised the initiative, emphasising the importance of informing people about the unit's facilities. The ministry has issued advisories to all states on heat stroke management, emphasising the necessity of arranging essentials like ice packs, glucose, and ORS in hospitals.
The newly established Heat Stroke Unit is equipped with state-of-the-art medical technology and staffed by highly trained professionals. Dr. Ajay Shukla highlighted its capacity to provide rapid cooling treatments and expert medical supervision to patients suffering from heat-related illnesses.
Dr. Seema Wasnik, the Incharge of the unit, stressed the urgency of rapid cooling in treating heat stroke patients to reduce mortality rates. The unit is equipped with special facilities, including a cooling tub filled with ice and water to normalise body temperature quickly.
The inauguration of the Heat Stroke Unit marks a significant milestone in prioritising public health and safety in Delhi. Through proactive measures and community outreach, the hospital aims to raise awareness about the dangers of heat-related illnesses and empower individuals to take preventive action.
