Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday expressed confidence that the state of Haryana would continue to extend full cooperation in the development of the national capital. Speaking to reporters in Karnal, Haryana, CM Gupta said, “I believe that Delhi will keep getting full cooperation from the state of Haryana.”
She further remarked on the lack of coordination between Punjab and other states, stating, “Some forces are acting like an eclipse on the state of Punjab, which is why neither Punjab is able to develop nor maintain proper coordination with other states.” Her statement came a day after chairing a high-level meeting in Delhi focused on overhauling the city’s real estate sector. The meeting aimed to make the system more transparent, efficient, and geared toward sustainable development, according to an official release.
During the meeting, the government received the "Government-Industry Taskforce on Real Estate Report"—a comprehensive document jointly prepared by several key stakeholders. These included the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Delhi Development Authority (DDA), Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC), Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), and real estate consultancy CBRE.
The report identified ten major challenges facing Delhi’s real estate sector, such as unauthorised colonies, issues with housing societies, the need for redevelopment of existing colonies, and the modernisation of infrastructure within industrial zones. It also offered practical and implementable solutions to address each of these challenges.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta reiterated her government’s resolve to revamp the sector and said that Delhi is committed to transitioning toward a real estate ecosystem that is structured, transparent, and citizen-friendly. The meeting was attended by Cabinet Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, along with senior representatives from the MCD, DDA, DMRC, the Registrar of Co-operative Societies (RCS), and CII. Officials noted that the report will serve as a blueprint for policy reform and structural change within Delhi’s real estate landscape.
In a separate development, the Delhi Government is preparing to unveil a new excise policy aimed at enhancing transparency and accountability in liquor distribution, while also focusing on social welfare and protecting vulnerable communities.
According to an official statement, the forthcoming excise policy will ensure that quality liquor is available to residents through a modern and transparent sale and distribution system. CM Rekha Gupta emphasized that social security would remain the top priority of this policy.
The government assured that the policy would be framed in a manner that safeguards the interests of sensitive sections of society, ensuring that the health, safety, and peace of vulnerable communities are not compromised. A high-level committee chaired by the Chief Secretary of the Delhi Government is currently formulating the new policy. The committee is also examining excise policies from other states to incorporate best practices that balance efficient liquor distribution with strong social safeguards, the statement added.
