Denmark’s Ambassador to India, Freddy Svane, praised President Droupadi Murmu’s address to the joint sitting of Parliament as “fantastic.” He expressed Denmark’s anticipation of India’s economic growth and its emergence as a strong global power. Svane highlighted the extensive agenda outlined by President Murmu and looked forward to India’s continued development.

Several international delegates, including Israel’s Ambassador to India, Naor Gilon, and Singapore’s High Commissioner to India, Simon Wong, were present at the Parliament to hear President Murmu’s speech. The dignitaries were warmly welcomed by officials upon their arrival.

In her address, President Murmu reassured the nation that significant economic and social decisions, along with historic steps, would be announced during the upcoming Union Budget sessions.

She emphasised the importance of the stable government formed with a complete majority after six decades, noting that the people’s trust has been placed in this government for the third time.

She remarked on the historic nature of the 18th Lok Sabha, formed in the early years of the Amrit Kaal, and its significance in witnessing the 56th year of the adoption of the Constitution.

President Murmu highlighted the government’s commitment to presenting a budget that reflects far-reaching policies and a futuristic vision. She assured that the budget would include major economic and social decisions, showcasing the government’s dedication to addressing the nation’s needs.

She congratulated the newly elected members of the 18th Lok Sabha and expressed gratitude to the Election Commission of India for conducting peaceful elections.

The President acknowledged the privilege of serving the country and urged the newly elected members to fulfil their duties with a spirit of prioritising the nation. She praised the high voter turnout in Jammu and Kashmir, breaking decades-long records and countering negative international propaganda.

Additionally, President Murmu addressed the government’s efforts to achieve lasting peace in the North East, resolving longstanding issues over the past decade.

She mentioned the enhancement of connectivity and development in various sectors such as education, health, tourism, and employment in the region. She also highlighted a significant investment in a semiconductor plant in Assam, which would position the North East as a hub for Made in India chips.

In her speech, President Murmu emphasised the government’s focus on making India the third-largest economy in the world. She credited the country’s rapid economic growth to the reforms and decisions taken in the national interest over the last ten years.

Despite challenges such as the pandemic and global conflicts, India has achieved an impressive average growth rate of 8 percent from 2021 to 2024. The President noted India’s contribution to 15 percent of global growth and reiterated the government’s resolve to continue on this path of economic advancement.
