External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is set to visit the United States from December 24 to 29. During this significant visit, he will hold discussions with his counterparts on key bilateral, regional, and global issues.
Additionally, he will chair a conference of the Consul Generals of India based in the US, focusing on strengthening India's diplomatic presence.
The Ministry of External Affairs released a statement confirming Jaishankar’s agenda for the visit, emphasising the importance of engaging in meaningful dialogue to address pressing international matters.
This visit underscores the deepening ties between the two nations, which are pivotal in shaping regional stability and global cooperation.
Earlier, US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti highlighted the immense potential of the US-India partnership. Speaking at an event organised by the US-India Business Council, Garcetti emphasised the need for both nations to reduce trade barriers and create an environment of fairness and equality in commerce.
He pointed out that collaborative efforts are essential for fostering a mutually beneficial trade relationship, adding that these measures would support businesses across the Indo-Pacific.
Garcetti further stressed the importance of protecting intellectual property, improving transportation infrastructure, and nurturing talent. He acknowledged India's workforce as a unique asset, describing it as one of the most extraordinary resources globally.
According to Garcetti, this human capital can drive innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic growth on a massive scale.
He also highlighted the need for renewed trust and transparency between the two nations. Garcetti praised India's entrepreneurial spirit, stating that the "Indian dream" reflects boundless optimism and mirrors the aspirations traditionally associated with the American ethos.
To maximise the potential of this partnership, Garcetti proposed merging the strengths of both countries. He called for blending "American scientific and financial expertise" with "India’s grassroots ingenuity and vast talent pools."
He expressed confidence in the ability of both nations to create ecosystems that support innovation and large-scale solutions, further strengthening their global impact.
Jaishankar’s visit is expected to provide a platform for advancing these shared goals and reinforcing the robust ties between India and the United States. As both nations navigate complex global challenges, their cooperation remains central to addressing issues such as trade, security, and sustainable development.
