In response to allegations of irregularities in the NEET-UG examination, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced the formation of a high-level committee to investigate issues related to the National Testing Agency (NTA). The committee aims to improve transparency and enhance the functioning of the NTA.
"We are committed to holding zero-error exams, and a high-level committee is being formed to improve NTA functioning," stated Pradhan at a briefing session. The government seeks recommendations from this committee to enhance NTA's structure, functioning, examination process, transparency, and data security protocol.
Pradhan assured that the government prioritises transparency and will safeguard the interests of students. Addressing concerns about a reported paper leak in Patna, he affirmed that strict action would be taken based on credible information from the investigation.
While acknowledging the cancellation of the UGC-NET examination due to the discovery of a leaked question paper on the DarkNet, Pradhan emphasised the government's commitment to integrity and future student welfare.
Responding to criticism from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Pradhan urged faith in the system, reaffirming the government's dedication to transparency and ensuring no tolerance for malpractice.
Rahul Gandhi criticised the government, alleging institutional capture of education by the BJP and its parent organisation RSS. He called for reversing this trend to prevent future paper leaks.
The NEET-UG 2024 exam results, released earlier than scheduled, sparked protests over alleged irregularities and paper leaks. Subsequently, the Ministry of Education cancelled the UGC-NET exam following indications of its integrity being compromised.
These developments highlight the importance of maintaining the integrity of examinations like NEET-UG, which serves as a gateway to various medical and related courses across India. The government's actions aim to restore confidence in the examination process and ensure fairness for all aspirants.
