Gujarat Celebrates 7th National Nutrition Month with CM Bhupendra Patel.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated the 7th National Nutrition Month-2024 in Gandhinagar on Saturday. The event marked the beginning of a month-long focus on improving maternal and child health across the country.

Patel emphasised that this initiative represents a shift towards a comprehensive approach to nutrition, aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of 'Sahi Poshan-Desh Roshan' and the broader India@2047 goals.

The National Nutrition Campaign, launched by Prime Minister Modi in 2018, aims to tackle malnutrition by addressing the nutritional needs of pregnant women, new mothers, adolescent girls, and children up to six years old.

This year's Nutrition Month, celebrated each September, is dedicated to themes such as Anaemia Prevention, Growth Monitoring, and effective service delivery through governance and transparency. The campaign also emphasises the importance of nutrition and education and includes efforts to provide dietary supplements.

During the inauguration, Chief Minister Patel and Union Minister of Women and Child Welfare Annapurna Devi, along with Gujarat’s Minister of Women and Child Welfare Bhanubhan Babria, distributed essential items to various beneficiaries.

This included food drops for orphans, benefits under the Vali Dotti Yojana, affordable food kits for pregnant and lactating mothers, and assistance checks under the Swavalamban Yojana. The launch also included the introduction of the state government’s new Nari Gaurav Niti-2024.

Chief Minister Patel highlighted that the National Nutrition Month has evolved into a public movement, inspired by Prime Minister Modi’s mantra of ‘Sauna Saath, Sauna Vikas.’

This shift underscores the campaign's growing impact and the increased public involvement in the fight against malnutrition. The Gujarat government has adopted an integrated approach to improve the nutrition, health, and education of mothers, adolescent girls, and children.

As part of this effort, the state provides pasteurised fortified milk to over 1.3 million children through the Dudh Sanjeev scheme, especially targeting those in tribal areas to enhance their nutritional intake.
