Haryana is set to begin its budget session on March 7, as per an official notification. The session will commence with Governor Bandaru Dattatreya addressing the assembly.
The notification, issued by the Haryana Vidhan Sabha Secretariat, confirmed the governor’s decision to summon the state assembly for the budget session.
Ahead of the session, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini conducted a pre-budget consultation meeting in Gurugram on January 2, 2025. The meeting focused on gathering input from industry and manufacturing stakeholders regarding the upcoming state budget.
The discussion aimed at ensuring a comprehensive approach to economic growth and development.
State Minister for Industries and Commerce, Environment, Forests, and Wildlife Rao Narbir Singh was also present at the meeting.
The chief minister emphasised his government’s commitment to inclusive progress and prosperity, recognising the vital role of industrial institutions in Haryana’s economic expansion. He reiterated the state’s contribution towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of making India a developed nation by 2047.
During the consultation, various stakeholders presented their recommendations. The chief minister assured them that key concerns would be addressed in the budget. He acknowledged Haryana’s recent advancements in agriculture, industry, education, infrastructure, and technology.
The state government intends to prioritise suggestions aimed at strengthening the rural economy, attracting industrial investments, empowering youth through skill development, and enhancing social welfare.
The meeting also included discussions on improving health services, public transport in industrial zones, and necessary reforms in industrial policies. The chief minister assured the attendees that their concerns regarding these areas would be taken into account while drafting the budget.
Chief Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Rajesh Khullar, highlighted a new initiative allowing citizens to submit their budget suggestions online. The platform, accessible through https://bamsharyana.nic.in, enables people to provide inputs across various sectors.
The initiative aims to foster public participation in the budget-making process. Over 1,000 suggestions have already been submitted through the portal.
Additional Chief Secretary and Financial Commissioner, Revenue & Disaster Management and Consolidation Department, Anurag Rastogi, noted that previous consultations had resulted in significant policy initiatives.
Programs such as Harhit Stores, drone technology implementation, STEM labs, and the Super 30 scheme were developed based on earlier public suggestions.
