The local SDM, a circle officer, and four others were suspended by the Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday following the SIT report on the Hathras stampede, which suggested the possibility of a "big conspiracy" behind the incident.
The SIT report pointed out deficiencies in the local administration that contributed to the stampede, which resulted in the loss of 121 lives on July 2.
According to official sources, the report attributed the stampede to the organisers' failure to manage the crowd and also placed responsibility on the administration.
It was reported that the local police and administration did not handle the event seriously and neglected to provide adequate information to senior officers.
Six individuals, including an SDM, a circle officer, and a tehsildar, have been suspended by the government based on the SIT report.
