India calls out Pakistan's nuclear bluff, says sources

Satellite images released by the Indian Armed Forces showed significant damage to targets in Muridke and Bhawalpur, with before-and-after comparisons highlighting the destruction of terror camps and Pakistan’s air defence radars and airfields.

Operation Sindoor.

'Operation Sindoor has sent a message to the terrorists that no matter where they hide, we will hit you', said a source, adding that 'India called out Islamabad's nuclear deterrence bluff.'

The Indian government clarified that its strategy focused on eliminating the "head of the snake" to dismantle terrorist infrastructures, marking a shift in its counter-terrorism approach.

The source told NDTV: "The message that has been sent is that no matter where you are in Pakistan, we will hit you. On this occasion, we have gone after the head of the snake and not foot soldiers. It showed our approach of 'ghar me ghus ke marenge (kill them within their home)'."

India conducted precision missile strikes on nine terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) which were main centres for the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). The operation, dubbed "Operation Sindoor," was launched on 7 May in response to a deadly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam on 22 April, which claimed 26 lives. The operation triggered four days of intense cross-border hostilities, with Pakistan launching drone and missile attacks on Indian civilian and military sites.

Operation Sindoor, they added, signals a new era in India’s fight against cross-border terrorism, with no return to "business as usual."

"We have called their nuclear deterrence bluff. We take the nuclear threat seriously, but it cannot serve as cover for Pakistan to come and do terrorism in our country," the source further added.

"The new normal is that the Line of Control will not protect you; the international border will not protect you; the nuclear threat will not protect you," the source said.

Satellite images released by the Indian Armed Forces showed significant damage to targets in Muridke and Bhawalpur, with before-and-after comparisons highlighting the destruction of terror camps and Pakistan’s air defence radars and airfields.

India reported intercepting most drones, with minimal damage, and retaliated by striking Pakistani military bases, including Rafiqui, Murid, Chaklala, and Rahim Yar Khan, using air-launched precision weapons.

On Sunday, the Indian Army confirmed that 35-40 Pakistani soldiers were killed along the Line of Control between 7 and 10 May, while Pakistan claimed 11 civilian deaths from Indian strikes. A ceasefire agreement was reached on 10 May, following talks between the Directors General of Military Operations of both nations.
