In a major escalation, Pakistan launched coordinated attacks late last night targeting multiple Indian military installations across Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir. These attacks, which used air defence missiles and counter-drone systems, were comprehensively neutralised by Indian defence forces.

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) stated that Pakistan had attempted to engage a wide array of military targets across Northern and Western India. The intended targets included high-security locations such as Awantipora, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj.

Pakistan employed drones and missiles in its attempt to strike these targets, but all incoming threats were intercepted and neutralised by India's 'Integrated Grid'. This multi-layered defence network includes advanced counter-Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) systems and sophisticated air defence weapons, such as the S-400 and Akash missile systems.

Evidence of the failed attacks is now being recovered in the form of debris from several of the targeted sites, confirming the scale and origin of the offensive action by Pakistan.

In a press briefing held during the coverage of Operation Sindoor, the Ministry of Defence reiterated that India’s military response remains focused, measured, and non-escalatory. It was also specifically emphasised that Indian forces had not targeted any Pakistani military establishments during their operations. However, the ministry made it clear that any future attack on Indian military assets would provoke a fitting response.

In the early hours of the morning following the Pakistani offensive, Indian Armed Forces conducted precision strikes on Pakistani Air Defence Radars and systems at multiple locations. One confirmed target included an Air Defence installation in Lahore, which was successfully neutralised. Officials confirmed that India’s countermeasure matched Pakistan’s aggression in both domain and intensity.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has intensified unprovoked ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC), particularly in the sectors of Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, Poonch, Mendhar, and Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir. These attacks have involved the use of mortars and heavy-calibre artillery.

Tragically, 16 civilians have lost their lives due to Pakistani shelling, including three women and five children, underscoring the human toll of these aggressive actions.

In response, the Indian Army returned fire to silence Pakistani mortars and artillery, aiming to bring the cross-border firing to a halt. The Indian Armed Forces have reaffirmed their commitment to non-escalation and peace, but warned that this restraint depends on mutual respect and de-escalation from the Pakistani side.
