During a diplomatic engagement in Singapore, an all-party Indian parliamentary delegation led by JD(U) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha strongly articulated India’s uncompromising position on terrorism. In a meeting with Singapore’s Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Home Affairs, Sim Ann, the delegation made it clear that India will not hesitate to respond firmly to any terrorist act and will not succumb to nuclear intimidation.
Sanjay Kumar Jha emphasised that India is fully prepared to carry out precise and decisive strikes against terrorist bases, even if they operate under the shield of nuclear threats. He underlined India's commitment to protecting its national security and sovereignty, while also seeking Singapore's support at international platforms in the global fight against terrorism.
According to an official press release by the High Commission of India in Singapore, the delegation highlighted India’s actions following the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam and provided a detailed briefing on Operation Sindoor. “The delegation, comprising representatives from multiple political parties, conveyed a unified national stance against terrorism,” the statement noted.
Jha explained that the terror attack in Pahalgam was aimed at disrupting peace and progress in Jammu and Kashmir. In retaliation, the Indian government launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting terror infrastructure across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The delegation described India’s response as "measured, non-escalatory, proportionate, and responsible."
The statement further emphasised: “If there is a terrorist attack on India, India will give a fitting reply. India will not tolerate any nuclear blackmail. India will strike precisely and decisively at terrorist hideouts, even if they operate under the guise of nuclear deterrence. India makes no distinction between the state sponsoring terrorism and its masterminds.”
Operation Sindoor, the delegation asserted, marks a turning point in India’s counter-terrorism strategy, setting a new benchmark for response. The members called upon Singapore to support India in international bodies such as the United Nations and the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) to combat terrorism in all its manifestations.
Responding to the delegation, Senior Minister Sim Ann reaffirmed Singapore’s strong condemnation of terrorism and expressed solidarity with India. She reiterated the close partnership between the two countries and committed to continued cooperation on regional and global security issues.
The Indian delegation included a cross-section of political leaders:
- Aparajita Sarangi (BJP)
- Abhishek Banerjee (TMC MP)
- Brij Lala (BJP)
- John Brittas (CPI-M)
- Pradan Baruah (BJP)
- Hemang Joshi (BJP)
- Salman Khurshid (Congress)
- Mohan Kumar (Congress)
This diplomatic outreach is part of a broader initiative by the Modi government, which has formed seven multi-party delegations to inform key nations about Pakistan’s role in fostering terrorism and to reinforce India’s zero-tolerance approach.
Operation Sindoor was launched in direct response to the brutal terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians. Indian armed forces, in a coordinated strike, targeted terror camps affiliated with groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen, leading to the elimination of over 100 terrorists.
India’s message, as conveyed by the delegation, is clear: Terrorism will be met with resolute and precise action, and no threat — nuclear or otherwise — will deter India from defending its citizens and territorial integrity.
