Justice Shamim Ahmed sworn-in as a judge of the Madras HC

Justice Shamim Ahmed sworn-in as a judge of the Madras HC

Justice Shamim Ahmed has been transferred to the Madras High Court from Allahabad High Court .


Justice Shamim Ahmed was sworn in as a judge of the Madras High Court on Monday, bringing the total number of judges in the court to 67.

 

Chief Justice K. R. Shriram administered the oath of office to Justice Ahmed during a ceremony held at the high court premises. 

 

Justice Ahmed was transferred from the Allahabad High Court. His appointment brings the number of judges in the Madras High Court to 67, against a sanctioned strength of 75.

 

At the swearing-in event, Advocate General P. S. Raman delivered the welcome address, while P. S. Amalraj, Chairman of the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, along with presidents of various advocates' associations, welcomed the new judge.

 

In his address, Justice Ahmed expressed gratitude to both the bench and bar.

 

Born in 1966 in Allahabad, Justice Ahmed completed his law degree in 1993 and began practising as an advocate. He was appointed as an additional judge of the Allahabad High Court in 2019 and became a permanent judge in 2021.
