External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar recently interacted with an All-Party Delegation led by DMK MP Kanimozhi following the delegation’s return from a multi-nation visit to Russia, Latvia, Slovenia, Greece, and Spain. The visit was part of a wider diplomatic outreach aimed at briefing key countries on Operation Sindoor and reinforcing India’s counter-terrorism position in the aftermath of the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
Taking to social media platform X, Dr Jaishankar shared his appreciation for the initiative, posting, “Glad to interact with the All Party Delegation led by @KanimozhiDMK that visited Russia, Latvia, Slovenia, Greece and Spain.”
The delegation, led by Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, was composed largely of opposition party Members of Parliament, along with one representative from the BJP, symbolising a rare display of political unity on a critical national security issue. Speaking after their return, Kanimozhi described the visit as “very positive” and emphasized that the bipartisan nature of the group sent a powerful message to the countries they visited — that despite internal political differences, India stands united in the global fight against terrorism.
She highlighted that acts of terrorism affecting India are frequently traced back to Pakistan and noted that this is not merely a bilateral issue but one that demands attention from the entire international community. According to her, the time has come for a collective effort to end terrorism and for no country to support or sponsor such acts. “Every time there has been an act of terrorism in India, we have been able to trace it back to Pakistan. It just doesn’t stop with India... the whole world has to be cautious in ending terror. No country should sponsor terrorism,” she said.
The members of the delegation included Rajeev Rai from the Samajwadi Party, Mian Altaf Ahmad of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, Brijesh Chowta of the BJP, Prem Chand Gupta from the Rashtriya Janata Dal, and Ashok Kumar Mittal representing the Aam Aadmi Party. The delegation also included former Indian diplomats Manjeev S. Puri and Jawed Ashraf, bringing strategic and diplomatic experience to the discussions held during the tour.

In a similar development, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar had earlier met with another All-Party Delegation led by Janata Dal (United) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha. This group had undertaken a diplomatic outreach tour to Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia. Their objective was also to raise awareness among foreign governments about India’s experience with cross-border terrorism and its implications for regional security.
Jaishankar expressed his appreciation for their efforts on X, stating, “Nice to meet with the All Party Delegation led by @SanjayJhaBihar that visited Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia.”
After the meeting, Sanjay Jha said that the delegation provided Jaishankar with detailed feedback from their engagements abroad. He noted that they shared facts and historical context about India’s four-decade-long struggle with terrorism, particularly that originating from across the border, and underlined the urgency of international cooperation in countering such threats.
The delegation included MPs from across the political spectrum: Aparajita Sarangi, Brij Lal, Pradan Baruah, and Hemang Joshi from the BJP; Abhishek Banerjee of the Trinamool Congress; John Brittas of the CPI(M); and senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid.
Both outreach initiatives reflect a unified national stance against terrorism and demonstrate India’s commitment to engaging with global powers to foster peace, security, and regional stability. These multi-nation visits mark a significant effort by India’s political leadership to speak with one voice on the global stage and ensure that the international community remains alert and committed to ending terrorism in all its forms.
