AAP Leader Sanjay Singh Announces Former CM Arvind Kejriwal Will Relinquish Security And CM House.

On Wednesday, AAP MP Sanjay Singh confirmed that former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will be vacating his residence and relinquishing all the associated facilities. This move follows Kejriwal’s recent resignation from his position.

Sanjay Singh emphasised that Kejriwal is choosing to forgo the privileges and security typically enjoyed by the Chief Minister. Singh expressed confidence that the people of Delhi will recognize Kejriwal’s commitment and honesty, asserting that the former Chief Minister served with sincerity.

He noted that upon his resignation, Kejriwal declared his intention to vacate his official residence within a week and give up all the benefits linked to his former role.

During a press conference, Singh also raised concerns about Kejriwal's safety, referencing multiple attacks on him. Despite these threats, Kejriwal has chosen to forgo his Z-plus security, stating that he places his trust in divine protection rather than security measures.

Singh relayed Kejriwal’s belief that he was safeguarded by God even during his incarceration, which included time spent among dangerous criminals. This conviction led Kejriwal to decide that his personal security should be entrusted to divine will, rather than relying on official protection.

Singh highlighted that although the security and residence are important for Kejriwal’s safety, the former Chief Minister has decided to move out and live among ordinary citizens. The exact location of his new residence is yet to be determined.

This decision comes in the wake of Kejriwal's announcement on Saturday that he would not return as Chief Minister until the people of Delhi affirm his honesty. He has called for early elections in the national capital, proposing that they be advanced to November, ahead of the originally scheduled February polls.

Kejriwal's resignation and subsequent call for early elections are a direct response to recent legal troubles. Just two days prior to his announcement, he was released from Tihar Jail after being granted bail by the Supreme Court in connection with a corruption case involving the alleged Delhi Excise Policy scam.

The Supreme Court imposed conditions on his bail, including restrictions on public comments about the case and mandatory attendance at all court hearings unless exempted.
