The Ministry of Civil Aviation has introduced a Medical Inspection Room at Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan in New Delhi, marking a step forward in workplace health and safety for employees and visitors.
This newly established facility will operate with a dedicated doctor and nurse, providing essential primary healthcare services. The inspection room is equipped to handle medical issues that may arise during working hours, ensuring that individuals experiencing health concerns receive immediate attention. If necessary, patients can be referred to nearby hospitals for further care.
During the launch, Vipin Kumar, Chairman of the Airports Authority of India (AAI), highlighted the importance of this new facility, explaining that immediate access to primary healthcare is essential for preventing serious medical incidents.
Kumar stated that a medical support system on campus is crucial in today’s rapidly evolving work environment, particularly within the high-paced aviation sector. He emphasised that the presence of medical personnel and facilities could potentially save lives, providing peace of mind for employees, officers, and visitors alike.
Kumar also shared insights into the aviation sector's rapid growth. Over the past decade, the number of airports in India has more than doubled, reflecting a shift in travel preferences as more people opt for air travel over traditional modes like rail.
This expansion aligns with the ministry's broader goals of enhancing passenger experience, increasing international tourist satisfaction, and building infrastructure to accommodate India’s burgeoning air travel demand.
According to Kumar, the government's efforts to modernise and expand the aviation sector are evident in projects like the Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan’s new healthcare facility.
Adding to the momentum of innovation within India’s aviation sector, the Airports Authority of India recently partnered with Delhi Research Implementation and Innovation (DRIIV), formalizing their collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
This partnership, signed at Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan, signals a shared commitment to fostering innovation, enhancing operational safety, and supporting sustainable growth in aviation.
Through this MoU, AAI and DRIIV aim to create a supportive environment for start-ups and boost the development of technological solutions tailored specifically to the needs of the aviation industry.
The MoU with DRIIV underscores the mutual dedication of both organisations to transform India’s aviation landscape. By promoting efficiency, prioritising safety, and advocating for environmentally sustainable practices, this partnership stands to make a lasting impact on the sector.
The collaboration with DRIIV is anticipated to accelerate advancements in technology, enabling airports across India to adopt smarter, more efficient systems.
