Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended heartfelt greetings to Oman Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and the people of Oman on the joyous occasion of Eid al-Adha.

In a press release from the Indian Embassy in Oman, PM Modi emphasized the significance of Eid al-Adha as a pivotal component of India's multicultural heritage, celebrated by millions of Indian citizens of the Islamic faith. He also conveyed his best wishes for the Sultan's good health and well-being.

"Eid al-Adha is an integral part of India's multicultural heritage and is celebrated with great fervor by millions of Indian citizens who follow the Islamic faith. On this auspicious occasion, I extend my best wishes for Sultan Haitham bin Tarik's good health and well-being," PM Modi stated.

In addition to his message to Oman, Prime Minister Modi also extended warm wishes to Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu. In his greeting, PM Modi underscored the values of "sacrifice, compassion, and brotherhood," which he described as essential for fostering global peace and harmony. This message comes at a time of strained relations between India and the Maldives, making the gesture particularly significant.

The Indian High Commission in Maldives shared the prime minister's message via a press release and a post on X (formerly known as Twitter). "On the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, Hon'ble Prime Minister of India @NarendraModi extended warm greetings to His Excellency President of Maldives Dr. @MMuizzu, the Government & the people of the Republic of Maldives," the commission tweeted.

Eid al-Adha, also known as the "Festival of Sacrifice," is one of the most important Islamic holidays, commemorating the willingness of Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son in obedience to God. It is marked by special prayers, feasts, and acts of charity.
