Uddhav Thackeray Challenges Mahayuti On CM Face In Polls.

The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has raised strong criticisms against the Maharashtra government, accusing it of failing to maintain law and order, engaging in corruption, and not fulfilling its promises. MVA leader and Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray said that their alliance will reveal its candidate for the chief minister post after Mahayuti makes their announcement.

The Mahayuti is the alliance between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), and the Shiv Sena faction led by Eknath Shinde. On the other side, the MVA brings together Congress, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray faction), and the NCP faction under Sharad Pawar.

Speaking at a press conference, Uddhav Thackeray openly attacked the BJP, claiming that the party is in such poor condition that it has to work under the leadership of those he called "thieves and traitors." He further added that since the Mahayuti is in government, they should take the first step by announcing their candidate for the chief minister position. Only then, he said, would the MVA disclose their own CM candidate.

Thackeray also raised serious concerns about the handling of the case involving the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddiqui. He expressed doubts about the actions of the Maharashtra government, stating that suspicions are arising about every step taken in these sensitive cases.

Referring to the arrest of the suspects in Siddiqui’s murder and the encounter killing of Akshay Shinde, who was accused of rape, Thackeray remarked that the situation under the current administration is questionable. He criticised the government for being more focused on tracking political opponents rather than watching the real criminals.

Sharad Pawar, the NCP (SP) leader, and Congress leader Nana Patole echoed Uddhav Thackeray’s remarks on the chief ministerial face of the MVA. Pawar supported Thackeray’s comments, adding that the message was clear, and there was no need for further elaboration on the MVA's decision regarding the chief minister position.

In addition to the issue of governance, the MVA took aim at the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Scheme, a government initiative aimed at empowering women.

Sharad Pawar accused the scheme of lacking transparency in financial provisions and budgeting. He said that unless the government clarifies its plans for financial support and makes distinct provisions, the MVA would continue to oppose it. Pawar emphasised that they were not against the scheme itself but questioned how the government plans to fund it.

At the press conference, MVA leaders also released a booklet titled "Gaddarancha Panchnama," which they claimed outlines how the Maharashtra government has betrayed the values and principles of the state.

Sharad Pawar mentioned that the booklet contains a detailed analysis of the government’s failures, and they also showed a video that highlights the same issues.

Nana Patole also spoke out against the Mahayuti, focusing on the safety concerns raised by recent incidents, including the killing of Baba Siddiqui. He criticised the government for failing to ensure the safety of its citizens, including children, women, and even political leaders. According to Patole, the government is more interested in playing politics than solving real problems.

Patole also raised concerns over the position of Police Director General Rashmi Shukla, stating that she is holding the post unconstitutionally. The MVA has filed a complaint with the Election Commission regarding this issue, calling for an investigation.
