The first meeting of the National Task Force (NTF), established in accordance with the Supreme Court's directives, took place on Tuesday under the chairmanship of the Cabinet Secretary.

This significant gathering included key figures such as the Home Secretary and the Health Secretary, marking an important step in addressing pressing national issues.

During the meeting, a series of comprehensive and detailed discussions unfolded, with members of the NTF sharing their insights and suggestions. According to a release from the Union Health Ministry, the discussions covered a range of critical topics, reflecting the diverse perspectives of the task force members. It was noted that the members had individually received a substantial number of suggestions, ranging from 300 to 400, directly from various stakeholders.

To streamline the process of gathering feedback, the Health Ministry has launched a national portal designed to collect suggestions from individuals and stakeholders across the country.

The portal is now fully operational, providing a platform for citizens and organisations to contribute their ideas and concerns. The suggestions collected from the portal, along with those submitted by major stakeholders, will be collated by the Union Health Ministry for further consideration by the NTF members.

In addition to these efforts, the Health Secretary, in collaboration with the NTF members, will engage in broader consultations with various major stakeholders. This approach is intended to ensure that a wide range of voices are heard, particularly on issues related to the security of medical professionals and institutions.

States have also been called upon to provide detailed information about the security measures currently in place within their medical institutions. To facilitate this, a Google sheet has been shared with state authorities to gather relevant data efficiently.

Looking ahead, a follow-up meeting is scheduled for August 28, which will be conducted via video conferencing. This meeting will focus on discussing short-term measures to enhance the security of medical professionals across the country.

The meeting will be co-chaired by the Union Home Secretary and the Union Health Secretary, underscoring the government's commitment to addressing this critical issue promptly.
