NCC & NPCIL join hands to promote peaceful nuclear energy usage

NCC and NPCIL ink a deal to raise awareness on peaceful use of nuclear power through various programmes pan India.


The National Cadet Corps (NCC) and the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at bolstering public awareness regarding the peaceful application of nuclear power across India on Thursday.

 

Signed on March 21, 2024, in New Delhi, the agreement outlines plans for various awareness programs to disseminate accurate scientific information and enhance public perceptions regarding nuclear power's peaceful uses.

 

The MoU was formalized by DG NCC Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh and NPCIL's Executive Director (Corporate Communication & Corporate Planning), Shri BVS Shekhar.

 

Under the terms of the agreement, NPCIL will contribute resource persons to engage with NCC during camps and other activities, educating cadets on the subject.

 

Additionally, cadets will have the unique opportunity to visit NPCIL facilities nationwide, gaining firsthand experience and understanding of nuclear energy's technical and technological aspects.

 

Describing the MoU as a significant step forward, DG NCC highlighted its potential to broaden cadets' horizons, nurturing a more aware and responsible youth cohort. With 1.5 million NCC cadets capable of influencing youth perspectives globally, he expressed confidence in their ability to drive successful awareness campaigns on peaceful nuclear energy usage.
