The Indian Air Force (IAF) confirmed on Sunday that Operation Sindoor, a counter-offensive launched against Pakistan-backed terrorists in Pahalgam, is still in progress, despite the ceasefire between India and Pakistan declared a day earlier.
In a statement issued on X (formerly Twitter), the IAF said: "Since the Operations are still ongoing, a detailed briefing will be conducted in due course. The IAF urges all to refrain from speculation and dissemination of unverified information."
The IAF further affirmed its operational success, stating, "The Indian Air Force (IAF) has successfully executed its assigned tasks in Operation Sindoor, with precision and professionalism. Operations were conducted in a deliberate and discreet manner, aligned with National Objectives."
Operation Sindoor was launched following a deadly attack by Pakistan-backed terrorists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The IAF’s confirmation of the operation's continuation came just after US President Donald Trump’s announcement of a ceasefire between India and Pakistan.

However, the fragile ceasefire began to unravel almost immediately. On Saturday, Pakistan resumed heavy shelling along the International Border in the Rajouri sector and in Srinagar. Indian air defence systems were activated in response, with reports indicating that India had downed at least four drones near the Army headquarters.
Explosions were heard in Srinagar and Baramulla on Saturday evening, with Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah commenting on the situation: "What the hell just happened? Explosions heard across Srinagar!!!"
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, alongside Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, confirmed the use of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile in Operation Sindoor. The operation’s main objective has been to target terrorist camps across Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and the Punjab province.
Using precise strikes, India targeted nine terror camps during the nights of May 6 and 7, demonstrating the operational prowess of the IAF.
