With the announcement of the schedule for Assembly elections in Jharkhand, the election commission has said that there is an increase of 1.54 per cent in the number of eligible voters in Jharkhand.
The number of voters in Jharkhand which was 2, 57, 78,149 on January 01, 2024, has now become 2,60,87,698. After the revision of the electoral roll by the Election Commission, the number of male and female voters has crossed the figure of 2.6 crores.
The Chief Election Commissioner informed that there were 3,89,595 voters during the voter list re-inspection, out of which 1,82,656 were found dead.
Notably, the State will witness assembly elections in two phases for the first time in the 24-year-long history of the State. Due to Maoist insurgency in most of the districts of the State, elections have always been conducted in more than two phases earlier.
As per the election commission, the first phase of polling will be held on November 13 and the second phase will be conducted on November 20. The counting of votes will be done on November 23.
Jharkhand has a total of 81 assembly seats, where 42 seats are required for a majority.
The total number of voters in the State is more than 2.60 crore, out of which male voters are 1.31 crore and female voters are 1.29 crore. Polling will be held in a total of 29,562 booths across the State.
In the first phase on November 13, polling will be held in Kodarma, Barkatha, Barhi, Barkagaon, Hazaribagh, Simaria (SC), Chatra (SC), Baharagora, Ghataila (ST), Potka (ST), Jugsalai (SC), Jamshedpur East, Jamshedpur West, Ichagarh, Seraikella (ST), Chaibasa (ST), Majhgaon (ST), Jagannathpur (ST), Manoharpur (ST), Chakradharpur (ST), Kharsawan (ST), Tamar (ST), Torpa (ST), Khunti (ST), Ranchi, Hatia, Kanke (SC), Mandar (ST), Sisai (ST), Gumla (ST), Bishunpur (ST), Simdega (ST), Kolebira (ST), Lohardaga (ST), Manika (ST), Latehar (SC), Panki, Daltonganj, Bishrampur, Chhatarpur (SC), Hussainabad, Garhwa and Bhawanathpur constituencies.
While in the second phase of polls on November 20 polling will be conducted in Rajmahal, Borio (ST), Barhait (ST), Litipara (ST), Pakur, Maheshpur (ST), Sikaripara (ST), Nala, Jamtara, Dumka (ST), Jama (ST), Jarmundi, Madhupur, Sarath, Deoghar (SC), Poreyahat, Godda, Mahagama, Ramgarh, Mandu, Dhanwar, Bagodar, Jamua (SC), Gandey, Giridih, Dumri, Gomia, Bermo, Bokaro, Chandankiyari (SC), Sindri and Nirsa constituencies.
