India strongly rebuked Pakistan at the 58th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), denouncing its persistent attempts to mislead the global community over Jammu and Kashmir.
Calling Pakistan a "failed state" that "thrives on instability and survives on international handouts," India underlined its unwavering stance on the region’s status.
Kshitij Tyagi, representing the Permanent Mission of India to the UN in Geneva, accused Pakistan of spreading falsehoods dictated by its "military-terrorist complex" while misusing the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) as a mouthpiece.
“It is regrettable to see Pakistan's leaders and delegates continuing to spread falsehoods handed down by its military terrorist complex. Pakistan is making a mockery of the OIC by abusing it as its mouthpiece. It is unfortunate that this Council's time continues to be wasted by a failed state which thrives on instability and survives on international handouts,” Tyagi stated.

Reaffirming India's position, Tyagi asserted that Jammu and Kashmir, along with Ladakh, would always remain an integral part of India. He pointed to the region’s significant political, social, and economic progress, contrasting it with Pakistan’s ongoing instability.
“The Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh will always remain an integral and inalienable part of India. The unprecedented political, social and economic progress in J&K in the past few years speaks for itself. These successes are a testament to the people's trust in the government's commitment to bring normalcy to a region scarred by decades of Pakistan-sponsored terrorism,” Tyagi added.
He further urged Pakistan to abandon its “unhealthy obsession” with India and focus on addressing its internal challenges.
“India remains focused on democracy, progress and ensuring dignity for its people. Values that Pakistan would do well to learn from,” he remarked.
The latest remarks come days after India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish, issued a firm response to Pakistan’s statements at the UN Security Council's open debate on multilateralism and global governance.
On 19 February, Harish strongly rejected Pakistan’s claims, stating that Jammu and Kashmir "has been, is, and will always be, an integral and inalienable part of India."
Pakistan has frequently attempted to internationalise the Kashmir issue, despite repeated affirmations by India that it remains a bilateral matter under the 1972 Simla Agreement.
India has consistently urged Islamabad to cease cross-border terrorism and address its own human rights issues instead of making unfounded allegations.
