Patna HC to hear Pappu Yadav’s petitions on BPSC issues.

In a significant move, Purnea MP Rajesh Ranjan, better known as Pappu Yadav, has filed three petitions in the Patna High Court, demanding action against the alleged irregularities in the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) examinations.

His legal action comes amidst growing public outrage over repeated malpractices in the examination process and accusations of mistreatment of protesting candidates.

Yadav's primary concern is the consistent allegations of negligence against the BPSC, which he believes has failed to address issues such as paper leaks, which have been a recurring problem during several examinations.

According to him, these leaks are not just a series of unfortunate incidents but indicate a deeper, systemic problem within the examination system, one that is possibly linked to examination mafias who have alleged ties with influential political figures.

The first of the three petitions filed by Yadav demands greater accountability from the BPSC. He is calling for measures that would ensure transparency and fairness in the examination process to avoid future incidents of malpractice.

Through this petition, Yadav seeks a comprehensive overhaul of the procedures involved in conducting these examinations, ensuring that candidates have a fair and level playing field.

The second petition addresses a matter that has caused significant outrage: the alleged excessive use of force against protesting candidates. Yadav has raised concerns about the lathi charge carried out on peaceful demonstrators and the subsequent FIRs filed against them.

In his petition, he condemns the actions of the administration, labelling the use of force as unjust and disproportionate. Yadav strongly criticises the handling of the protests, which were sparked by widespread frustration with the examination system.

The third petition takes aim at the 70th Combined Preliminary Examination, demanding its cancellation. According to Yadav, the examination was marred by large-scale malpractice, further exacerbating the trust deficit in the BPSC’s ability to conduct fair exams.

He is urging the court to order a re-examination, one that is free from the alleged rigging and manipulation that he claims took place.

Yadav has also pointed to the involvement of coaching mafias, claiming that figures such as Sanjeev Mukhiya have close ties with powerful political leaders, further complicating the examination process.

He believes these connections are part of a larger problem, contributing to the persistent irregularities within the BPSC. His allegations paint a picture of a corrupt system that is far from impartial or transparent.

The Jan Suraaj Party and several other candidates have echoed Yadav’s concerns, also filing petitions in the Patna High Court, demanding the cancellation of the 70th Preliminary Examination, which was held on December 13.

The petitioners are calling for a re-examination and accountability for the suppression of the protests. They argue that the protests were largely peaceful and that the use of force was entirely unwarranted.

Yadav has vowed to take the issue to the national stage, planning to raise the matter of examination corruption and paper leaks in the upcoming Lok Sabha session scheduled for March 31.

He is determined to bring the matter to the forefront of national discussions, hoping to spark a larger conversation about corruption in public examinations across India.

On January 7, the Supreme Court had declined to entertain a petition seeking the cancellation of the BPSC prelims. The Court suggested that the petitioners first approach the Patna High Court, following procedural guidelines before moving the case to the Supreme Court.

Throughout this controversy, Yadav has not hesitated to make pointed accusations against various individuals. He indirectly criticised political strategist Prashant Kishor, referring to him as the “new satyagrahi”.

Yadav questioned Kishor’s commitment to the movement, mocking him for allegedly requiring hospitalisation after participating in the protests for only a short period. This comment added fuel to the ongoing political tensions, as Kishor's role in the protest and his public image became the subject of debate.
