Paraguay has officially become the 100th member of the International Solar Alliance (ISA), marking a significant milestone in global solar energy cooperation. The country's Ambassador to India, Fleming Raul Duarte, handed over the Instrument of Ratification during a meeting with Abhishek Singh, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of External Affairs, in New Delhi.
The International Solar Alliance (ISA) is a collaborative initiative aimed at promoting solar energy deployment worldwide. Launched jointly by India and France during COP21 in Paris, ISA focuses on enhancing energy access, ensuring energy security, and fostering the transition to clean energy technologies. It aligns with the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement by facilitating large-scale adoption of solar power.
Established in 2015 during the 21st Conference of Parties (COP21) to the UNFCCC, ISA operates as a member-driven platform. Currently, 119 countries have signed the ISA Framework Agreement, with 100 countries, including Paraguay, having ratified it to become full-fledged members.
Paraguay's accession underscores its commitment to sustainable energy practices and global climate action. With Spain recently joining as the 99th member in May, ISA continues to expand its membership base, further amplifying its impact on advancing solar energy solutions globally.
The addition of Paraguay to ISA not only strengthens the alliance's international presence but also enhances collaborative efforts towards achieving a sustainable and low-carbon future.
As countries unite under ISA's umbrella, the alliance remains pivotal in driving global efforts towards a cleaner and more resilient energy landscape.
