Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for a series of significant development projects in Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh. The event marked a step forward in infrastructure and environmental initiatives, with a strong focus on benefiting farmers and local governance.
Among the key highlights was the launch of the Ken-Betwa River linking national project. This marks India's first interlinking of rivers under a national perspective plan.
The project is set to provide irrigation facilities across districts in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, offering relief to thousands of farming families.
Speaking on the occasion, PM Modi praised the progress achieved under Chief Minister Mohan Yadav's government and expressed optimism about the transformational impact of these initiatives.
The Prime Minister also commemorated the 100th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee by releasing a special coin and stamp in his honour.
Additionally, the foundation stone was laid for 1153 Atal Gram Sushasan buildings, which aim to strengthen good governance at the grassroots level by improving the functioning of Gram Panchayats.
A noteworthy environmental initiative inaugurated by PM Modi was the Omkareshwar Floating Solar Project in Khandwa district.
This solar project is expected to contribute to the government's ambitious net zero carbon emissions target by 2070. It is also designed to aid in water conservation by reducing evaporation, thereby offering dual benefits for the environment.
The Prime Minister emphasised the importance of these projects in enhancing local development, governance, and environmental sustainability. With these initiatives, the region is set to witness improved irrigation, efficient governance, and a commitment to sustainable energy.
