Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit the Mahakumbh Mela 2025 on February 5, as confirmed by sources close to the event. This visit will add to the significance of the grand religious gathering, which has already attracted considerable attention from government officials.
The Mahakumbh Mela, one of the largest spiritual gatherings in the world, takes place in Prayagraj, where millions of devotees from across the country come to take a holy dip at the sacred confluence of the rivers Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to attend the event on January 27. As per his itinerary, Amit Shah will participate in the sacred rituals, including taking a dip at the Sangam, performing the Ganga Puja, and holding meetings with local officials.
Security measures in Prayagraj have been significantly heightened in preparation for his visit. Authorities have set up additional surveillance at key intersections and venues where events are being held to ensure smooth and secure participation for all attendees.
In addition to Amit Shah, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar is scheduled to visit Prayagraj on February 1, marking his participation in the Maha Kumbh. He will take a holy dip at the Sangam, which is a significant event in the Mela calendar.
The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, is also expected to visit Prayagraj on February 10. During her visit, the President will participate in key events that will be held as part of the ongoing Mela celebrations.
Administrative and security arrangements are being bolstered to ensure that the visits of these high-profile leaders are both secure and successful.
Despite dense fog and adverse weather conditions earlier in the week, the devotion of the pilgrims remained unwavering. The chilly weather did not deter the thousands of devotees from taking part in the sacred event, which is considered to be of great religious significance.
The footfall of the devotees is expected to increase in the coming days, particularly around the dates of the four key Shahi Snans, where pilgrims gather to take holy dips.
These special bathing dates include January 29 (Mauni Amavasya – Second Shahi Snan), February 3 (Basant Panchami – Third Shahi Snan), February 12 (Maghi Purnima), and February 26 (Maha Shivaratri).
As of January 20, more than 88.1 million devotees had already visited the Mela, with over 1.597 million pilgrims taking a dip at the Triveni Sangam on the ninth day alone.
This massive turnout highlights the deep spiritual connection that people from all walks of life share with the Kumbh Mela, which has been celebrated for centuries.
The organisers are working tirelessly to manage the logistics, crowd control, and facilities for such a large influx of people, ensuring that the event proceeds without incident.
