Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to lead a significant roadshow in Mumbai's Ghatkopar at 8 pm today, covering a distance of 2.5 kilometers.

This rally holds significance as the Prime Minister will be campaigning for Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Mihir Kotecha, vying for the Ghatkopar seat in the upcoming Lok Sabha election's fifth phase on May 20.

In light of the high-profile event, Mumbai Police has issued stringent traffic guidelines to ensure comprehensive security arrangements during the rally.

The roadshow is set to kick off from Shreyas Cinema on LBS Road in Ghatkopar, concluding at Gandhi Market.

Mumbai police advisory:

Several routes in the vicinity will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic from 2 pm to 10 pm, as confirmed by a Mumbai traffic police official.

LBS Road will be inaccessible for vehicles from Gandhi Nagar junction to Naupada junction, while the Mahul-Ghatkopar road will remain closed from Meghraj junction to RB Kadam junction.

Additional road closures during this period include the Andheri Ghatkopar Link Road from Ghatkopar Junction to Sakinaka Junction, Gulati petrol pump junction from Hiranandani Kailas Complex Road, and from Golibar Maidan to Ghatkopar Metro Station (West) towards Sarvodaya Junction.

To mitigate inconvenience for commuters, alternative routes have been identified, including the Eastern Express Highway, Western Express Highway, Andheri-Kurla Road, Saki Vihar Road, MIDC Central Road, Santacruz Chembur Link Road (SCLR), Sion Bandra Link Road, and Jogeshwari Vikhroli Link Road (JVLR).

Before his anticipated roadshow, PM Modi is scheduled to address election rallies in Dindori and Kalyan.

The timing of the roadshow comes just two days after a tragic incident in Ghatkopar where a massive hoarding collapse near a petrol pump claimed 14 lives and left 75 injured.

The collapse, occurring during heavy rains and dust storms on Monday evening causing traffic disruptions and multiple road closures as rescue operations unfolded.
