On August 17, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially open two significant highway projects in Delhi that would cost close to ₹11,000 crore. Around 12:30 pm, the inauguration will take place in Rohini, and the Prime Minister will then speak to a crowd of people.
The projects include the Alipur-Dichaon Kalan segment of the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) and the Delhi segment of the Dwarka Motorway. The government's larger goal to improve multi-modal connectivity, decongest the city, and shorten travel times throughout the National city Region (NCR) includes both of these efforts.

The 10.1-km Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway has been built at a cost of around Rs 5,360 crore. The corridor will connect Yashobhoomi, the Delhi Metro’s Blue and Orange lines, the upcoming Bijwasan railway station, and the Dwarka cluster bus depot. It is divided into two packages — a 5.9-km stretch from Shiv Murti intersection to Dwarka Sector-21 and a 4.2-km stretch up to the Delhi-Haryana border, linking directly with UER-II. The Haryana section of the expressway, covering 19 km, was inaugurated by Modi in March 2024.

The Prime Minister will also unveil new spurs to Bahadurgarh and Sonipat, as well as the UER-II stretch from Alipur to Dichaon Kalan, which is expected to cost Rs 5,580 crore. It is anticipated that this corridor will reduce traffic on Delhi's Inner and Outer Ring Roads as well as important traffic jams like NH-09, Dhaula Kuan, and Mukarba Chowk. Additionally, the project will speed up the transit of commodities around the NCR and boost industrial connectivity.
These initiatives, according to the government, are essential to creating top-notch infrastructure in the capital, enhancing inhabitants' quality of life, and stimulating the economy through improved transit connections.
