Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Wednesday, shortly after tendering his resignation to President Droupadi Murmu.

This marked Modi’s first meeting after securing a third term in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections.

The Vice President's Secretariat stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid a courtesy call on Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar at his residence in the Vice President's Enclave this morning.

Official sources disclosed on this occasion, Dhankhar presented a shawl to Modi along with a bouquet featuring three lotus flowers, symbolising his third consecutive term, surrounded by lilies.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister was treated to "peda," a delicacy from Dhankhar's hometown of Chirawa in Rajasthan's Jhunjhunu district, and jaggery from Meerut, a notable agricultural product from the region.

Earlier, Modi visited Rashtrapati Bhavan to submit his resignation along with the Union Council of Ministers.

President Murmu accepted the resignation and requested that Modi and his ministers continue in office until the new government is formed, according to a communique from Rashtrapati Bhavan.

In the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP secured 240 seats, while the NDA achieved a clear majority in the 543-member House. The principal opposition party, Congress, won 99 seats.
