On 3 January 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for a series of significant development projects across Delhi.

These initiatives reflect his commitment to improving infrastructure, education, and housing in the city, with a focus on providing better living conditions for the economically weaker sections.

The Prime Minister's visit will begin at around 12:10 PM, when he will inaugurate 1,675 newly constructed flats at Swabhiman Apartments in Ashok Vihar. These flats, built as part of the In-Situ Slum Rehabilitation Project, are designed for the residents of Jhuggi Jhopri (JJ) clusters in Delhi.

The project aims to offer these residents a better quality of life, with modern amenities and a healthier living environment. The inauguration of these flats marks the successful completion of the second phase of the rehabilitation project by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA).

Under this initiative, for every Rs 25 lakh spent on constructing a flat, the government charges beneficiaries less than 7% of the total amount. This includes a nominal contribution of Rs 1.42 lakh and Rs 30,000 for five years of maintenance.

Following this, the Prime Minister will inaugurate two major urban redevelopment projects in the city. The first is the World Trade Centre (WTC) at Nauroji Nagar, a project that has transformed the area by replacing over 600 old, dilapidated quarters with state-of-the-art commercial towers.

The WTC will offer around 34 lakh square feet of premium commercial space and is equipped with modern amenities.

The building has been constructed with sustainability in mind, incorporating green building practices, including provisions for solar energy generation, rainwater harvesting, and a zero-discharge concept.

The second project being inaugurated is the General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) Type-II Quarters at Sarojini Nagar. This project includes 28 towers with more than 2,500 residential units, each offering modern amenities and efficient use of space.

The design of the complex focuses on eco-friendly living, with rainwater harvesting systems, sewage and water treatment plants, and solar-powered waste compactors.

In addition to these projects, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate the CBSE's Integrated Office Complex at Dwarka. This eco-friendly building, constructed at a cost of Rs 300 crore, includes offices, an auditorium, and an advanced data centre.

It has been built to high environmental standards, adhering to the Platinum Rating standards of the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC). The office complex incorporates a comprehensive water management system, ensuring efficient and sustainable resource usage.

Finally, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for three new educational projects in Delhi, all under the Delhi University umbrella, with a total investment of over Rs 600 crore.

These projects include the construction of an academic block in the Eastern Campus at Surajmal Vihar in East Delhi, an academic block in the Western Campus at Dwarka, and the establishment of Veer Savarkar College at Roshanpura, Najafgarh.

These institutions will provide state-of-the-art facilities for students, ensuring a better educational experience for future generations.
