₹47 lakh seized in Sangam Vihar during routine check.

Delhi Police seized Rs 47 lakh in cash from a car during a routine check in Sangam Vihar, raising concerns about illegal activities ahead of the Assembly elections scheduled for 5 February.

The car was driven by 24-year-old Vaseem Malik, a resident of Sangam Vihar and a self-proclaimed scrap dealer.

The Static Surveillance Team (SST) intercepted the vehicle during a routine patrol. Malik failed to provide valid documentation for the cash, prompting officials to seize the amount.

Authorities are investigating the source of the money to determine whether it was linked to electoral malpractice.

The seizure comes as Delhi gears up for a high-stakes triangular contest between the Congress, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for 70 Assembly seats.

The results of the election are set to be announced on 8 February.

With law enforcement agencies on high alert, surveillance has been intensified across the city to curb the flow of unaccounted money and ensure a fair electoral process.

Police officials confirmed that further action is being taken in line with legal procedures, and updates on the investigation are expected soon.
